Since 1 September 2018, we have formed part of the West Flanders Bar, which is an amalgamation of the former Bars of Courtrai, Ypres, Furnes and Bruges.
The legal profession has been subject to many and rapid changes in recent years, both in terms of legislation and the organisation of our profession.

New challenges and reinforcement for the office in 2018

After an eventful 2017 and the huge loss we have suffered, we are now ready to contend with the new year!

VAN MARCKE ADVOCATEN concluded the year with a fantastic team! Every one of them was fully committed to his/her tasks within the office. The promise we made, namely to continue the great work carried out by Claude, has therefore been kept!

A sincere word of thanks to our colleagues, as well as to our numerous loyal clients, who have maintained their faith in the office.

We are embarking on 2018 with total confidence, as part of a united team which has been further strengthened by the arrival of Sven Staelens, a lawyer affiliated with the Kortrijk Bar since 1st October 2015.

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Sven to our team!

All that remains for us to do is wish everyone a highly successful 2018!

Lexlink Conference in Belgium

In the meanwhile Lexlink has expanded to an international network of 15 law firms. This year the annual conference will be held in Belgium.

Trough the several members of Lexlink Van Marcke Lawyers has contacts in every European member state and multiple countries outside the European Union.

This year the annual conference will be held in Belgium. The conference will take place in Ghent from the 25th until the 28th of October.

Besides a discussion and an in-depth study of a few legal topics in international context, the various application demands to Lexlink will also be discussed on this general meeting.

A new name, a new style

On 1 January 1996 Claude van Marcke set up an independent law practice, which has over the years evolved into a lawyer’s office employing 14 lawyers and 3 administrative assistants.

This evolution also needed to be reflected in the name, look and feel of the office. Therefore, we are pleased to introduce you our new corporate identity and company name VAN MARCKE lawyers.

VAN MARCKE lawyers represents a no-nonsense and involved approach to your requirements, which we are proud of. These values are also clearly translated into our new corporate identity design. Red and white, the main colours of this new design, emphasize decisiveness and involvement.

This is what we are like and this fact certainly stands up to scrutiny.

Lexlink expands with 4 countries

This year 4 offices were added to the international network Lexlink: Pro Bein & Co from Israel, Bowker Abagados from Mexico, Antonis Paschalides & Co from Cyprus and Ventural Carcés & Lopez-Ibor from Spain.

The annual conference of Lexlink, an international network of lawyers, took place from Thursday 6 to Sunday 9 October 2011. McNamara Ryan Solicitors hosted this year’s event in Epsom, England.

As usual, the conference opened with a general meeting, during which the Board of Directors presented a report on last year’s activities. A general meeting is usually followed by an exposition of a current legal issue with an international impact. This year, however, our German correspondent professor Rainer Schackmar conducted a lecture on the 2010 Incoterms.

For our office this meeting is the perfect opportunity to better get to know our foreign contact persons and their offices. This enables us to, if necessary, refer our clients to a trustworthy contact person abroad, together with whom we then handle and follow up a dossier.
